I was initially hesitant to try this place because of its reputation before it became a restaurant. Although the name is the same, it is now a completely different establishment. My friend and I were deciding where to go for lunch when she asked whether I had tried it yet. I had not, and I am so glad we decided to go. We were seated quickly and chose to eat inside because it was air conditioned. The space was neat, orderly, and impressively clean. I loved the atmosphere. The hostess was very welcoming, and I only wish I had thought to ask her name. Our waitress, Vanessa, was warm, attentive, and friendly. She checked on us a few times to make sure everything was satisfactory, and I had the chance to speak with her briefly before we left. Her bubbly personality made the experience even better. We both ordered the lunch special, which included three tacos each. One of the best parts was being able to choose three different kinds instead of just one. • Shrimp tacos • Basa fish tacos • Chicken tacos • Marinated beef tacos The tacos came with rice and black beans, and everything was seasoned perfectly. We tried the NC at the suggestion of a friend. Rather than look for parking we paid $5 to park at the YMCA across the street (credit card only). There is a security guard watching the parking lot which is a plus. We sat on the porch which had a nice breeze. Be mindful that traffic can be loud sometimes, but it was a nice atmosphere. The server was very nice and made some helpful suggestions. We started we guacamole and chips and Esquites, sort of a deconstructed street corn. We mixed it with the guacamole at the advice of the server. Very, very good! For our meals we had birria Quesadilla and Adobo Salmon. The birria Quesadilla was excellent and the dipping sauce was very tasty. The salmon I did not like. I asked for cooked all the way through. The greens were wilted and the adobo sauce was too much for me. With that being said I will definitely go back as I saw so many dishes that I'd like to try.

Loved my vegitarian fajita and great portion size. My friend liked his taco. Taco is a smaller portion than we expected. Good service and a nice place. First visit and definitely will go back. Located in downtown New Bedford near other resturants and business. Near New Bedford ferry terminal.

“The National Club - Mexican Cantina” - first time visiting this restaurant. This restaurant was highly recommended to us by an airbnb host - they told us they haven’t been yet, as it’s a new restaurant, but their friends said it was great! We TOTALLY AGREE with the Airbnbs friends! We had a terrific experience here. Cassidy/Cassie the lovely waitress who took care of us - Thank you so much! We arrived early, walked there. My husband had reserved our table, we asked if we could bring the seating early? They were happy to oblige. It was a surprise dinner arranged by my husband. Highlights were the tropical guacamole and nachos, and the tequila flights. We had the two mains from the march chef specials menu. The staff bought out an additional dish, apologised for bringing out the starters so late - I didn’t notice - it was very kind of them. The food was delicious! The bathrooms were quirky, spacious and clean. I wish I took a photo of the wallpaper. I really liked the paintings on the walls. Despite the dimming of lighting (minor), we highly recommend this place to eat out. It looks like they have an outdoor space which has been sheltered from the outdoor weather. The restaurant is

Got around to trying the National Club. Had the Nachos Grande for an appetizer and thought they were pretty good. Went with the Chicken fajitas and they were good as well. Guest went with the Birria quesadillia and thought they were okay.
